Our Story

We are very proud of our reputation for quality, patient-friendly eye care and consider it a privilege to serve Durham and its surrounding communities. The principles that have attracted patients and grown our practice include the commitment to always doing what is right, never taking anyone for granted, treating everyone with courtesy and respect and maintaining the highest standards of care through ongoing study, education and technology. Excellence will drive the practice forward as people will always seek excellence.

Durham Family Eye Care first opened in 2007 in Durham Village behind Carmine’s restaurant. It had always been our hope to have a central, visible presence with convenient access on Main St, and when the opportunity to purchase our current building presented itself we didn’t hesitate. We moved into our current location, 243 Main Street, in the fall of 2010. It is located at the very heart of Durham near the intersection of Route 17 and Route 68. This beautiful historic home was built in the 1760’s and has previously been a pharmacy as well as a physician’s office and is in the History of Durham book as a historic home. The office interior and exterior has been designed and maintained to preserve the legacy of a historic home with the input and approval of the Durham Historic Society. The first floor houses the Optometric office and has ample parking and a handicap accessible ramp that was added in the fall 2012.

We have been blessed with growth, laughter, friendships and prosperity and a fantastic team of people who truly love their job.

We hope you visit our office and experience the excellence in eye care you deserve.
